The Why We Love {Pasadena Engagement Photography}

Kevin and I love Film!  We love hitting up craigslist, thrift stores, garage sales, you name it, all in the name of discovering some loverly film camera finds.  Recently we came across two great finds on Craigslist!  A Bronica SQAI and a Minolta Autocord TLR.  We tested out a few rolls at a recent engagement shoot for Nancy & Monte.  I love how obscure some of these images are that Kevin captured. I couldn’t resist posting!

Cheers!

Habitat for Humanity Part Un {Lynwood, CA}

Back in December of 2009, Kevin and I had the privilege of participating in the wall raising ceremony celebrating one of Habitat for Humanity Greater Los Angeles sites in Lynwood, CA.  We have since served on the core planning committee for our faith community, Mosaic, which has raised over $150,000 towards the bulding of Habitat’s 10 units to be completed later this year.  Each month we gather volunteers to help participate in the building process.  I am always amazed each time we go back.  The amount of progress we witness each time we return to the site is truly remarkable.  More than the progress we see on the houses themselves, we are so touched by the amount of volunteers that show up on a Saturday or Wednesday to do whatever  is asked of them to do.

It is one thing that Kevin and I truly enjoy doing together and we invite anyone interested to serve along with us.  For more information on different build days available contact us or log onto the ServeLA website to find out different volunteer opportunities in the Los Angeles area.

Here are some images from our most recent time out on the site.

Send Us to Australia {Vote Now}

This is UNREAL!  Our meager little video made it to the TOP THREE of the TRA giveaway!  If you read the earlier post titled VOICE {TRA Contest Entry} then you know the contest I am talking about.

Sarah & Chris Rhoads are a husband and wife photography team based out of Seattle.  Their work is fresh, clean, provocative, and authentic.  As a husband and wife team ourselves we would be honored to be mentored by such a successful team as them.  The goal of this workshop is not only to inspire and provoke us to find our Voice as artists, but to help us create a brand that is un-apollagetically us!  As we have been working so hard to do this very thing it becomes a challenge when the task lists seem to grow longer and longer.  Sometimes the gift is having someone step in and help clear a little space.  Help you figure out how to focus your creativity.  How to dream in such a way to see your dreams become reality.  The opportunity to be a part of a workshop that would help do just that is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Please take the time to VOTE for our video.  Follow the link to Sarah and Chris’s Blog.  Scroll down the post you see above and vote on the survey.  Vote now, vote often.  Voting closes on Friday at Noon!

Cheers to dreaming!

Throw Back Tuesday! {Loren & Rachel}

Of course I can’t complain that we have a new blog.  I mean, it’s always fun to mix things up a bit.  But the one thing I miss about the old blog are some of the old posts!  So, in lieu of repopulating the new blog with old content I figured I would pay tribute to some oldies but goodies by instating Throw Back Tuesdays.  These posts will include one or two photos from sessions past.  Not only is this a celebration of progress, but a way to celebrate the stories we once told all over again.  Sort of like second editions.  They may not have the tightly bound shiny hard covers of the first editon but equally as loved and admired for their good read.  You get the drift!

So for our first ever Throw Back Tuesday here is an ode to Loren & Rachel.  This was one of those images that just lingers in your mind.  Quite honestly I was testing out the lighting and flash when this moment just happened.  Those are always the best aren’t they?  I hardly think we should take any credit.  I just happen to have the camera up and pointing at the right time.  There is something about this photo I just LOVE.  The looks on their faces are so…. curious.  I think that this will stay a Memory Maker Favorite.

Cheers!

Mr. Owen {Altadena, CA}

Please meet Mr. Owen. As far as 3 year olds go this little guys is the cat’s pajamas. I mean he is really that cool. With the wit of a British Sitcom, and the innocence that only a 3 year old could posses he is simply all kinds of wonderful. We started the afternoon in awe and wonder of old trains at Travel Town. With a pause every so often to contemplate why most of the trains weren’t moving; it always ended with a speedy resolution that ‘they just had no where to go’. After a while the afternoon sun posed to be a bit too warm so we oppted to cool off in the back yard. Grandpa powered up the sprinklers and the water fest began. For this little man the showers seemed larger then life. After a while, all bets were off and we all got a bit soaked. Not a bad way to spend a warm summer afternoon. Here are a few images from our time together.
