Big Sur Elopement | Post Ranch Inn Destination Wedding | Scott + Renee

otherworldly and epic, right?  we certainly think so.  here is what renee wanted to share about their adventure:

We wanted to share a few words on our experience with the lovely Danielle and Kevin of The Why We Love.  Once we decided on Big Sur for our elopement we knew we wanted someone who could capture, not just us creatively, but the details of such a beautiful part of the coast.  From the very beginning, we felt a connection with Kevin and Danielle.  We shared a lot of the same interests and they had the artistic eye we were looking for.  The fact that they shot film AND my favorite obsession, Super 8, was a dream come true!  On our wedding day we felt we were amongst friends we had known for years.  They truly made us feel we could be ourselves.  We left a lot of the details up to them, even where the ceremony would take place.  We were confident in whatever their vision would be. Sure, we had big dreams of sun drenched wedding moments, but Big Sur had other ideas! The clouds rolled in and out, as they do, and The Why We Love worked with it beautifully to give us something we couldn’t have been able to picture.  The end result was a romantic collection of how we truly remember Big Sur;  eerily pretty with a uniqueness all its own.  We felt so very lucky to have them be a part of our elopement!
My wedding dress was from Sarah Seven while my jewelry was a mix of Anthropologie and J.Crew.  The shoes I wore were Steve Madden and also Salt Water Sandals.
Scott’s attire, however, was a mix of Nordstrom shoes & suspenders, H&M bow tie, J.Crew shirt, and Levi’s Made & Crafted denim pants.
The flowers were my own Air Plants from home and some Billy Balls I picked up at our local market. Both, my and Scott’s hair were cut and styled by our hair dresser, Jenn Cassidy, of Radar Hair and Records.
Honeymoon was spent at Post Ranch Inn and along the CA. coast.
Both rings were passed down by family.  My rings were his great grandmother’s wedding band and engagement rings, while his ring was his late stepfather’s, which I had engraved with his mother and stepfather’s wedding date along with our’s.
Our best friend of 15+ years, Brett, was our officiant.  The vows were completely tailored by him, including surprise messages from our parents and personal notes to us, from him. These notes from everyone really had us laughing and crying.  We also read our own vows to each other.  Our wedding song was played in the background on an iPhone Band of Horses – “I Go to the Barn Because I Like the”
Before traveling down for our elopement we celebrated with family and friends in the backyard of our West Seattle home. The theme was “West Coast Is For Lovers.” It was the perfect send off! Having the party before we left instead of when we got back made it very stress free and had us glowing with love and support on our travels!
